WORKSHEET 4: ON THE OTHER HAND. FOR DISCUSSION LEVEL 1A. Next Saturday

Worksheet 4.                         ON THE OTHER HAND                        LEVEL 1A

ACTIVITY: 1
Pair work. Read the article and answer the questions.

Activity 2: discussion

1. Who uses the other hand more often, lefties or righties? Why?

2. What is the advantage of being ambidextrous over being left-handed?

                                                 CAN LEFTIES DO IT RIGHT?

Leonardo da Vinci, Marilyn Monroe, Paul McCatney, Pelé, Bill Gates…What do all these people have in common? They are all left-handed!

Being left-handed means that you find it more straightforward to do things with your left hand than with your right. It may also mean that you prefer to use your left foot or left eye(for example, with a camera).

Depending on how you define it, between 10% and 30% of people are left-handed. But most left- handers use their right hand for at least some things like shaking hands.

Some people can do things with both hands equally well. Being ambidextrous is a big advantage over being a lefty, because we live in a world designed for right-handed people.

If you are lefty, take heart. Many famous lefties have risen above these challenges and succeeded, as Leonardo, Marilyn, Paul, Pelé and Bill Gates have shown.
